You can turn it off by turning off the auto tint feature on the rear view mirror. Just prepare to be blinded in the rear view. 2016 Chevy SS SIM A6. Later when you open the door, they will fold open automatically. If you live in a city where you parallel park, folding the mirror protects them from other careless drivers.

So that would be my guess on why they are no longer blue. My 2003 E66 also had auto-dim mirrors and those were not blue either. As for the strip, not sure on that one.
