WebI didn't play around with party member monsters, so from my experience YRP with Mascots are the way to go. And I beat Almighty Shinra as well as Major Numerus. Not sure what the "meta" actually is with the monster arena stuff, but if you're struggling, I'd recommend sticking to the girls.
